Martin Nuttall, artist based in Dorset, paints pet portratis and portraits in oil. He also produces seascapes, landscapes and more.

Martin Nuttall is a Dorset based artist who works in a more traditional style. Painting in different media he favours oils and works in the fashion of the old masters to gain depth and colour. His inspirations are Turner and Edward Seago.

Martin was trained as a technical illustrator at Bournemouth and Poole College of Art (now Bournemouth University) specialising in architectural, engineering and botanical illustration and passed with distinction.

After working in the aircraft industry as a technical illustrator and becoming head illustrator at a major aircraft components company Martin was involved in a life changing car accident. This provided him, however, with an opportunity to pursue a career he has always desired. Painting!

Martin has also produced illustrations for national magazines. More recently Martin produced artwork for Exbury Gardens for greetings cards and has produced illustrations for Dorset Countryside.

Martin has produced work in airbrush, water colours and ink and has had work exhibited in the Maritime museum at Poole and Poole Arts Centre (now The Lighthouse). His work was also exhibited in a gallery in London through the college.

Now unleashed from the constraints of illustration Martin now enjoys painting in a more creative style. Martin currently has more ideas than time to produce the work he has planned as he works on private commissions.
